The Company Energía Básica, S.A. (ENERBASA), formalized various social aid agreements with the communities of Guanacastillo, Pavana Centro, and Aguacaliente, in the department of Choluteca, which will take place during the life of the project.
Each year the company carries out a socioeconomic study to detect urgent needs in each village, then they are socialized with residents, and at the end, an agreement is signed to start the implementation of the projects.
During the construction phase, a community multipurpose center was built with an area of 100 square meters in the community of Aguacaliente. In addition, an elevated tank was built with capacity to store 12,000 gallons of water in the community Guanacastillo, which was supplemented with the installation of a new pump. Finally, a water supply tank in the community of Pavana Center, with a storage capacity of 10,000 gallons of water was restored.
As part of the social plan of 2016, ENERBASA will make a donation of 65 student desks and 3 complete furniture sets for school teachers in the community of Aguacaliente, and will also proceed to fully electrify the community center, which was built by the company last year and has been very useful for the realization of social activities.
In the village of Guanacastillo the agreement includes the construction of a shelter to protect the newly installed water pump, which will also protect the control panel and allow space for the operator. Here the company will also support the health center with the provision of medical equipment and medical products for frequent use.
Also, the community of Pavana will be benefited with the supply and installation of a submersible pump that will boost water from a newly drilled water well that supplies the precious liquid to its inhabitants, including the provision of equipment, materials to be used and workforce of qualified personnel.
ENERBASA assigned a forest conservation buffer of about 20 hectares as part of its commitment to the environment. Such buffer zone protects different species of trees typical of the area as the rain tree (Samanea Saman), southern mahogany (Eucalyptus botryoides), black Guanacaste (Enterolobium cyclocarpum), melina (Gmelina arborea).
In addition, the company built a 9,348 nursery plants of different species as part of its reforestation plan.
ENERBASA continuously executes and runs environmental works in order to harmonize the solar power plant with the environment, as evidenced by planting a living fence of 2,400 izotes (Yucca elephantipes) located along the perimeter of the park.
